Samuel Court and Branston Road are sites belonging to Spire in Uppinghamand formed part of the Rutland stock transfer. Uppingham is a highly desirable place to live and very close to Rutland Water, consequently house prices can be very high.
The Development comprised of three sites, two containing lock up garages and the third had a redundant sheltered scheme called Samuel Court, which was to be demolished.
The redevelopment of these three sites for affordable aousing was supported by both Uppingham Town Council and Rutland County Council. The Blue Skies Consortium were successful in a bid to the HCA (now Homes England) for funding of £540,000 Social Housing Grant towards this scheme.
Re-development of the site proved quite contentious with local owner occupiers who had previously parked their vehicles on the sites without renting a lock up space. This formed part of our development strategy to provide additional off street parking for ‘locals’ on open space land owned by Spire Homes in addition to the parking for the new development.
