A £7.7 million investment, including £880,000 in grant funding from the HCA transforms former farm land into 70 new affordable homes.
Poplar Farm, forms part of the Buckminster Estate. The landowners put in place a team of experienced consultants led by Ancer Spa (Midlands) Ltd to design a major high quality housing scheme, making best use of a site which slopes significantly from south to north.
An adopted estate access road was constructed by Buckminster Estates to the boundary of the overall site; from this boundary the adopted road was extended throughout the scheme.
The construction of the buildings was traditional foundations; precast beam and block ground floors, timber frame structure, brickwork external walls, upvc double glazed windows and doors, tiled roofs, fully fitted out interiors including a lift in the apartment block. External works comprised of private car parking for both the bungalows and apartment block, fenced garden areas to the rear of the bungalows including paved patios and turf; bin store, drying area and communal seating area, together with landscaping to all communal areas.
The complexities of the scheme, the site, coupled with the number of partners involved demonstrated POD expertise and relationship management skills.
