A number one developer within the East Midlands.

Achieving high-quality affordable housing developments isn’t always easy.  Schemes can be technically demanding, time-consuming and subject to intensive negotiations.

With the range of housing options available – unit types, different tenures, scheme densities, government initiatives – it’s important to choose the right development partner for the job.  That means someone who knows local communities and networks, will adapt to changing circumstances and has the technical and financial skills to make a project stack up.

Blue Skies Consortium is a partnership of 16 housing associations working together to build high-quality affordable homes.  Created in 2006, Blue Skies works primarily in the East Midlands and East of England, but also stretches into the West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humberside regions.  Consortium members collectively own more than 46,000 homes, creating successful communities and providing excellent housing support.

The Consortium is already a key player achieving ‘top 10’ developer status in the National Affordable Housing Programme and attracting one of the largest grants outside of London.

Blue Skies is the number one developer within the East Midlands attracting almost one-third of regional development funds and nearly double the grant of its nearest competitor.  And competitive grant per unit rates mean the partnership offers excellent value for money.

The outlook also looks bright.  Partners expect to secure more than £100 million in grant funding for 2008-11, and are set to build more than 2,000 homes for rent and low-cost home ownership in that time.
